A 2018 Ignatian pilgrimage to Spain inspired David Krill to bring a life-size sculpture of St. Ignatius to Marquette University’s campus. He also saw how prominent Jesuit Universities honored their order’s founder, Ignatius, by creating sculptures to share his enduring story, inspiring a global Jesuit mission that has shaped education and their ministry for more than 450 years.

David Krill’s idea to place a small St. Ignatius sculpture in the new Business School lobby grew into a campus-wide project. Marquette leaders recommended a larger, outdoor version. After months of research, proposals, and artist interviews, the committee selected Inspired Artistians to design a life-sized, seated Ignatius intended to greet and inspire passersby. The sculpture has since become a warmly received and prominent campus icon.
